About

Who We Are?

Our Goal

To organize local residents impacted by the problem of excessive vibration and noise at a grade-level crossing between Canadian National Railway (CN) and Metra’s Union Pacific-Northwest Line where two railroads intersect, just West of CN Crossing #260 515D at IL Route 59 (Hough St), Barrington, Illinois.

We are threatened by property damage, devaluation, and displacement. The group aims to protect our neighborhood, demand accountability, and push for regulatory or legal intervention.

Purpose and Mission

We are a grassroots group of Barrington, IL residents united to protect our homes, community, and environment from the destructive impacts of noise and ground-borne vibration from extremely heavy freight trains operations.

To truly solve the vibration problem where CN crosses Metra UP-NW, the real solutions are:

    1. A grade separation (flyover or underpass) —
      the only complete solution.
    2. Advanced vibration-mitigation track technologies —
      most effective short-to-mid-term fix.
    3. Operational changes (speed reduction, scheduling) — moderate impact, low cost.
    4. Regulatory pressure and coordinated studies —
      required to force action.
